Omaha murder suspect killed by Kansas law enforcement identified

An Omaha murder suspect killed following a pursuit with Kansas law enforcement has been identified.

Omaha Police say the man who was killed in Lawrence, Kansas on Monday is 31 year old Nicholas Hirsh. Hirsh was wanted for the First Degree Murder of 41 year old John Miles of Council Bluffs. On Thursday, June 11th, police were called to an apartment complex near 79th and Blondo where Miles was found shot to death.

The U.S. Marshals Service says they believe Hirsh had been in Kansas since Friday, when a car was stolen from Clay Center. The Kansas Highway Patrol spotted the stolen vehicle near Perry Lake in northeast Kansas. Law enforcement pursued Hirsh to Lawrence, where the vehicle reportedly broke down.

The Kansas State Patrol says that when Hirsh exited the vehicle, pointed a gun at officers and was shot. A woman who was reportedly in the car with Hirsch was not injured.
