Omaha Murder Suspect Dead After Shootout With Kansas Troopers

A homicide suspect from Omaha is dead following a police chase that ended with a shootout in Kansas.

The incident started Monday afternoon near Lake Perry in northeast Kansas where the Kansas Highway Patrol was assisting U.S. Marshals in looking for the man. After law enforcement located him they say he led them on a chase to Lawrence, Kansas, where his vehicle became disabled.

Investigators say the man, who was white, was shot and killed after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officers. His name has not been released yet. A woman in the vehicle was not hurt and was taken into custody.
