The investigation continues after an off-duty Bellevue Police officer working security in the Capitol District Saturday morning shot a man after Omaha Police say the suspect shot and killed another man.
The man who died is identified as 27 year old Jose Santos Parra Juarez. Omaha Police say officers responded to the area of 10th and Capitol Avenue just before 2:00 a.m. for a reported shooting. The caller was an off-duty Bellevue officer who told police the shooting occurred near 12th and Davenport Streets.
Both Juarez and the suspect were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center where Juarez died. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
The gunman, whose name has not been released, was treated at the hospital and is now in police custody.
