Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Resigns

The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking for a new leader. City officials say Executive Director Keith Backsen has resigned for personal reasons effective July 3rd.

Backsen has led the Convention and Visitors Bureau since 2015. Mayor Jean Stothert says Omaha has experienced five straight years of growth in tourism.

"Keith has provided excellent vision and leadership for the Convention and Visitors Bureau," Stothert says. "Keith and his team have elevated Omaha as a popular destination for visitors. I thank him and wish him well."

In previous years tourism has brought $1.3 billion into the city. Stothert will begin a search for Backsen's replacement.
