Inmate missing from Community Corrections Center-Lincoln

Another inmate from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln has walked away from the facility.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says 41 year old Viet Tran was reported to law enforcement after he didn't report for evening count on Sunday night. Prison officials say the electronic monitoring device Tran had been wearing was found in the area of SW 27th Street and Van Dorn in Lincoln.

Tran began serving his sentence on April 12, 2012. He is serving a sentence of 13 to 26 years for multiple convictions out of Lancaster County that include unauthorized use of a financial transaction device, drug charges, theft by deception and disturbing the peace. He has a parole hearing scheduled for December 1, 2020.

CCC-L is one of two community custody facilities operated by NDCS. Community custody is the lowest custody level and the least restrictive facility. Inmates are permitted to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.

Tran is described as an Asian man, 5’4”, 190 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to contact local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol. Last month two other inmates at CCC-L also walked away from the facility, only one of whom has been caught.
