Iowa lawmakers are sending a medical marijuana bill to Governor Kim Reynolds.
The state Senate passed a measure Wednesday that allows purchase of medical cannabis products with four-and-a-half grams of THC, which is the key chemical in marijuana.
The House has already approved the bill, which calls for less potency than a bill Reynolds vetoed in 2019. That measure allowed for 25 grams of THC over a 90 day period.
The measure being sent to Reynolds adds severe intractable autism and PTSD to the list of conditions that qualify for the medical marijuana program.
Supporters of medical marijuana think Iowa's program is too limited, while opponents say more studies need to be done on the treatment.
