More camping opportunities will be available in Nebraska starting on Thursday.
On June 4th, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will remove all previous temporary restrictions on recreational vehicle and tent camping. Designated beaches and swimming areas also will open June 4th.
Game and Parks says camping will return to normal at most state parks, with the exception of Mormon Island and Danish Alps SRAs, which will remain closed to overnight camping due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in those communities. Limited RV camping, by reservation, will be available in those areas.
Some un-designated beach areas will remain open only for walk-in access and fishing if social distancing, with the 10-person gathering size limit still in place.
Cabins, lodge rooms and group shelters operated by Game and Parks will remain closed to the public through June 15th, with a possible extension. State park and recreation area playgrounds and play structures will reopen June 15th. The Commission says park guests should take personal precautions, such as using hand sanitizer, when using high-risk areas.
