Sarpy County Enacts Curfew Following Violent Protests In the Metro

Sarpy County has announced a county-wide curfew following three nights of protests that turned violent in the metro.

Cities included in the emergency declaration curfew include Bellevue, Gretna, La Vista, Papillion and Springfield. The curfew is in effect from 8:00 Monday night through 6 Tuesday morning.

A statement from Sarpy County stated that the action was deemed necessary due to the protests in Omaha turning violent. "This curfew restricts all non-essential travel and gatherings of the general public on public and private property, with the exception of those traveling to and from work, and any emergency services, including those seeking medical attention."

Council Bluffs, Omaha and Lincoln all have similar curfews in place.
