The Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District will be reopening playgrounds, restrooms and other public features starting Monday.
In a Thursday release, the Papio NRD said they consultated with the City of Omaha and other partner agencies to make the decision to open playgrounds, picnic areas and restrooms at their recreation areas on June 1st.
The Douglas and Sarpy county parks include Chalco Hills Recreation Area, Prairie View Recreation Area and river access sites. Campsites at the Elkhorn Crossing river access site remain closed until further notice. Papio NRD says all social distancing and Directed Health Measures must be adhered to by park users. They say if an inordinate amount of violations occur, they'll reevaluate the situation and reimpose restrictions as necessary.
