Omaha man suffers life-threatening injuries in Thursday morning crash

Police say an Omaha man suffered life-threatening injuries following a Thursday morning crash.

OPD says just after 8:00, officers were called to the intersection of Maple Street and the I-680 E off-ramp for a personal injury crash involving two vehicles.

The investigation revealed that a northbound 1993 Ford Mustang, driven by 23 year old Shane Krantz, ran a red light signal while exiting the I-680 E off-ramp onto Maple Street. The Mustang was then hit by an eastbound 2016 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 54 year old Corri Buckley.

Police say the Mustang Krantz was driving had been reported stolen out of Ralston. Investigators say Krantz had been in a short pursuit involving Omaha Police near I-680 E and Pacific Street that was cancelled prior to the crash.

Krantz was transported to CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital with life-threatening injuries to his pelvis, abdomen and chest. Police say charges are pending against him. Buckley suffered minor injuries.
