OPS Superintendent declines pay raise as board extends her contract

Omaha Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Logan has turned down a pay raise as part of her contract extension.

During the OPS Board meeting Wednesday night, Logan declined the pay raise, a move that will keep her salary at $300,000. The board extended her contract extension to June 30, 2023. Logan’s travel allowance was also reduced.

During the meeting, the board also rejected developing a disaster policy in the event a state of emergency is declared.

The proposal would have given the Superintendent or the district Chief of Staff the ability to close or limit access to programs, implement action plans, temporarily modify collective bargaining agreements and more. The COVID-19 pandemic made some board members realize the need for such a policy, especially if there's an unexpected development this fall.
