"Food Bank For The Heartland" Plans Critical Food Drive

"Food Bank For The Heartland" says with large donations from major wholesalers and retailers dropping during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, the pantry is holding a drive - through effort this weekend to help replenish supplies.

Food donations will be accepted this Saturday at the "Food Bank" headquarters at 105th and "J" Streets in Omaha from 9 A.M. to noon.

The collection will be in the parking lot west of the building.

They are especially looking for canned fruits and vegetables, bags or boxes of rice, beans in cans or bags, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, pasta, pasta sauce, pancake mix, boxed meals, and canned tuna, chicken or other meats.

Those donating can stay in their vehicles.

Members of the Nebraska National Guard, Food Bank staff and volunteers will direct traffic and unload the supplies.
