Offutt Closes Childcare Center After Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

Offutt Air Force Base has closed one of its child care centers after one of its employees contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus.

In a statement from the 55th Wing on Wednesday, a spokesperson said the Child Development Center 1 located off base near the Rising View housing area was closed "out of an abundance of caution in response to a child care provider who has tested positive for COVID-19."

The statement goes on to say, "the individual had been in contact with staff and children at the Child Development Center 1 prior to self-quarantine and contact tracing is currently being conducted by the Offutt Public Health section."

The 55th Wing says that anyone who may have been in contact with the person will be notified soonest. adding that the Child Development Center will be professionally sanitized during its closure. No date has been set to reopen the facility.
