Douglas County Reports 16th Coronavirus Death

The Douglas County Health Department announced the sixteenth COVID-19 coronavirus death in the county on Wednesday.

The department says the county's most recent coronavirus death is that of a man over the age of 80, who suffered from underlying health conditions.

The Health Department also confirmed 31 new cases of COVID-19 in Douglas County, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 536 since the start of the outbreak. There are 15 males and 10 females among these latest test results with the gender of six cases unknown at this time. The age range is from six years old to 84 years old.

As of Tuesday night, local hospitals reported 528 medical surge beds were available and that 46 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. An additional 48 people are hospitalized and suspected of having the disease. Of the 348 ventilators available to area hospitals, 104 were in use, including 13 for confirmed COVID-19 patients.

Seventy Douglas County residents have recovered from the illness.

The Douglas County Health Department is asking every member of the public to go to the Test Nebraska website to complete the testing questionnaire.
