A woman has died following a Tuesday morning fire at an Ashland apartment building.
Saunders County officials say that 69 year old Jeanette Morley was inside her apartment at the building near N 19th and Silver Streets when her unit caught fire. Morley was taken to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in critical condition where she later died. The Saunders County Attorney says an autopsy has been ordered and that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is considered accidental.
The Ashland Fire Chief tells 6 News that the Nebraska State Fire Marshal's office is now investigating the cause of the fire.
