Douglas County continues to add double-digit COVID-19 coronavirus case numbers, along with another coronavirus-related death on Monday.
The county's most recent COVID-19 coronavirus death is that of a woman in her 60's, who had comorbidities. Her death brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the county up to 15.
The Health Department also confirmed 49 new cases of COVID-19 in Douglas County, bringing the total number of cases in the county up to 489 since the start of the outbreak. There are 28 men and 15 women among these latest test results, with six cases to be identified during interviews. The new cases range from 4 to 62 years of age.
As of Sunday night, local hospitals reported that 553 medical surge beds were available and that 47 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Of the 348 ventilators available to area hospitals, 91 are in use, including 15 for confirmed COVID-19 patients. Sixty-seven individuals in the metro area are confirmed to have recovered from coronavirus.
The health depart says as some changes are made to Directed Health Measures, they remind the community that the need for social distancing becomes even more important in the battle against COVID-19. Health Director Dr. Adi Pour reminds people to keep six feet of separation from other individuals whenever possible. “Social distancing remains your best tool against COVID-19. Remember to wear a mask whenever you’re in public and wash your hands.”
