Intoxicated Papillion Woman Facing Assault Charge after Attacking Nurse

A Papillion woman is behind bars after attacking a nurse at CHI Health Midlands Monday night.

Papillion Deputy Chief Chris Whitted tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that 26 year old Laura Stephenson was "very intoxicated" and "semi-incoherent," so she was taken by officers to Midlands Hospital for observation.

Whitted says once Stephenson was at the hospital, "There was an altercation with some of the nurses, and there was a nurse who was slapped or assaulted." Stephenson not only reportedly slapped the nurse, but also repeatedly spit at the victim.

The nurse is did not suffer serious injuries and is expected to be okay. Stephenson was booked in the Sarpy County Jail on a charge of Third-Degree Assault of a Health Care Worker.
