The Douglas County Health Department has announced the county's eighth COVID-19 coronavirus related death.
The county's most recent coronavirus death was a man in his 70's who suffered from multiple underlying conditions.
The Health Department also confirmed three new cases of COVID-19 in Douglas County on Thursday. The most recent positive cases brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Douglas County up to 266. The latest cases involve two males and one female who range in age from less than a year old to a person in their 50's. The Health Department says one of the individuals is hospitalized. One new case had contact to a known case while the other two remain under investigation.
Hospital inventory as of Wednesday evening indicated that 590 medical surge beds are available and 43 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19. Of the 417 ventilators available to area hospitals, 104 are in use including 21 for confirmed COVID-19 patients.
