Douglas County Announces Eight New Cases of COVID-19

The Douglas County Health Department confirmed eight new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus on Wednesday.

Health officials say the latest cases involve seven females and one male, who range in age from less than a year old to 49 years old. Three of these cases had contact to a known case, one case is related to travel, one was community acquired, and three remain under investigation. There are no hospitalizations among this group.

There now have been 263 cases of COVID-19 and seven coronavirus-related deaths in Douglas County since the outbreak began. 901 cases and 20 deaths have been reported statewide.

Douglas County hospital inventory, as of Tuesday night, showed that 553 medical surge beds are available with 38 patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Of the 402 ventilators available to area hospitals, 86 are in use, including 15 for confirmed COVID-19 patients.
