Omaha Police say an intoxicated driver caused a crash near 45th and Maple Wednesday afternoon that left a nine year old boy with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the driver of a Chrysler Concorde was eastbound on Maple and went around a stopped SUV. The Chrysler then went southbound on 45th Street and struck a parked car.
Police say the vehicle, driven by 18 year old Juliana Townsell, then accelerating, jumped a curb and crossed the northbound lane where it slammed head-on into a Nissan Sentra.
After being hit, police say the Nissan struck a parked vehicle. Police said the driver of the Sentra, 31 year old Cierre Hudson and a 9-year-old passenger were taken to Nebraska Medicine to be treated.
Hudson suffered a serious head injury and the 9-year-old boy has life-threatening head and abdominal injuries. Four other children riding in that car suffered minor injuries.
Charges are pending against Townsell, who was also hospitalized.
