Coronavirus Cases Rise In Douglas County, Nebraska

The number of coronavirus cases is continuing to increase in Douglas County. As of Sunday there were 35 positive COVID-19 cases in the county. Statewide the number is 50.

Douglas County Health Department Director Adi Pour is encouraging people traveling or returning from an area with a high number of coronavirus cases to consider working from home if possible.

She says it's not just the elderly and those with compromised immune systems that are affected. "We are seeing a lot of individuals in their 30's and 40's that are now identified with COVID-1."

Pour says sore throat is coming up as a reported symptom and dry cough is reported in a majority of the cases.

During a Sunday afternoon news conference Police Chief Todd Schmaderer praised Omahans for their compliance. He says officers have not issued one citation for non-compliance.

"The last thing I want is for crime to shoot up during this time," Schmaderer says.
