An eleventh person has tested positive for the coronavirus in Nebraska. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services says the patient is a man in his 50's from Cass County who was on the same connecting flight from Minneapolis as the first patient in the state.
Officials say the patient has been self-isolating at home since March 7. Those close to him have been advised to self-quarantine and will be actively monitored twice daily by public health officials for fever and respiratory symptoms.
The Sarpy/Cass Health Department is helping to assess further potential exposures and determine next steps.
Health officials also reported on Thursday that seven more people were being treated for coronavirus at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's quarantine unit.
