DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nebraska - The Douglas County Health Department reports that influenza activity remains elevated in the area. There was a slight decrease in numbers from last week however, lab testing may decrease as more clinical diagnoses are made.
There were 311 new lab confirmed cases last week. The number of reported influenza A and B cases are about equal.
The percentage of outpatient visits with flu-like illness, emergency department visits and hospital admissions all remain high. The percentage of children absent from school due to illness remains elevated.
Nebraska continues to be one of 43 states experiencing widespread influenza activity. There have been nine outbreaks in long term care facilities and one outbreak in a correctional facility this season.
