Bottled Water Advisory For Carter Lake

CARTER LAKE, Iowa - Residents of Carter Lake should use bottled water for drinking and cooking until further notice.

City officials say the water distribution system lost pressure Thursday. Crews worked to fix the problem but the water is being tested.

The city cannot use a boil order at this time because that will not reduce manganese levels. City officials are concerned the manganese levels in the water could cause serious health issues.

WOWT 6 News reports city officials expect things to be back to normal after test results come back on Saturday.

The problem was caused by the distribution system. That caused a possible bacterial contamination. Repairs were made to the system and caused another problem prompting the city to issue the bottled water advisory.

Carter Lake will provide updates on their social media pages. A time frame has not been given
