Nebraska Coronavirus Testing Results Could Take Days

OMAHA, Nebraska - Nebraska Medicine/UNMC provided an update on the thirteen individuals being monitored for the coronavirus.

The Nebraska Public Health Lab has completed testing on the 13th people in both the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit and National Quarantine Unit. Those tests will need to be confirmed by the CDC and that will take time. The Nebraska Public Health Lab tests have to be sent to the CDC for them to provide that confirmation and that could take several more days.

Nebraska Medicine adds the efforts of those at the Nebraska Public Health Lab have worked tirelessly to provide not only these test results but others for the community. They are one of only three state public health labs who have successfully verified the CDC assay in their laboratory and certified to perform diagnostic testing using those guidelines.
