Arrest Made In Three Thefts

OMAHA, Nebraska - A man is facing three felony charges of theft by receiving after a month’s long investigation into stolen items.

On November 9, 2019, a construction company reported thousands of dollars of equipment was stolen from the back of a pickup. The owner was able to identify the property that was in the possession of Paul Janicki.

A second theft was reported on January 7, 2020 when a trailer containing thousands of dollars in construction equipment was reported missing. A follow-up investigation conducted by the Auto Theft Unit led them to an apartment garage near 97th and Q Street. A search warrant was obtained and Jeep reported stolen on February 1, 2020 was recovered.

Police say linking these crimes to a suspect is difficult without documentation and serial numbers from the stolen property. The owner was able to provide that information on his equipment. This is a reminder to write down those numbers of your valuables in the event of a theft.
