Lincoln Police Struggle With Armed Man During Drug Arrest

LINCOLN, Nebraska - The list of charges for a man arrested in Lincoln continues to grow.

Lincoln officers had contact with a man near NW 12th and W Adams around 8:30 p.m. Monday and they saw drug paraphernalia in plain view inside his vehicle. During a search, officers found more paraphernalia, marijuana, muscle relaxer pills, 33 grams of meth, baggies, a scale, a BB gun and counterfeit $100 bills.

Officers started to take 34 year old Douglas Shaw into custody when they noticed he was holding a folding knife. Police say Shaw struggled with officers for about three minutes before backup officers arrived and he was taken into custody.

Officers suffered scrapes and lacerations but no one was injured by the knife.

Shaw was booked for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, carrying a toy gun in the city limits and possession of a forged transaction device.
