OMAHA, Nebraska - Update: The plane carrying 70 people from China that are being tested for the coronavirus will arrive at Eppley Airfield either Wednesday night or Thursday. While at the airport, they will be in an isolated area and not in the main terminal.
They will be checked by the Centers for Disease Control in Omaha before heading to Camp Ashland where they will remain quarantined for 14 days.
The CDC reports they have conducted 293 tests from people in 36 states. So far, eleven have tested positive, 206 negative and the rest of the results are pending.
Several planes from China are heading to three airports in the U.S., including Eppley Airfield this week. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services made that announcement Wednesday morning.
The release from Health and Human Services says the flights will be met by teams from the Centers for Disease Control. They will assist with health care of the passengers in connection to the coronavirus.
The release states the passengers have been screened, monitored and evaluated before and during the flight.
6 News report those individuals will then be given legal orders and be quarantined for two weeks starting the day their flight leaves Wuhan, China.
Those arriving at Eppley Airfield will then be taken to Camp Ashland. Those on other flights will be housed at Travis Air Force Base in Sacramento and Marine Corps Air Miramar in San Diego.
We will provide more updates when they become available.
