OMAHA, Nebraska - A draft programmatic environmental assessment to evaluate the impacts of implementing structural repairs, under Public Law 84-99, to levees damaged during devastating flooding in March 2019 is currently available for review. Comments on the draft programmatic EA must be postmarked or received by March 4, 2020.
Throughout the Midwest, widespread flooding in March 2019 resulted in damage to over 30 levee systems and 32 full levee breaches along the Missouri River and its tributaries in the Omaha District’s area of responsibility. This programmatic EA evaluates the potential impacts of repairing damaged levees back to their pre-flood condition, through structural solution. Those could include in-line repairs, small-scale and large-scale levee setbacks.
The public is encouraged to provide comments on the draft which is available for by clicking here.
