Lincoln Couple Accused Of Helping Themselves To Neighbor's Belongings

LINCOLN, Nebraska - A Lincoln man returned from a two week out-of-town work assignment to find a rude surprise.

Lincoln police were called to an apartment at 12th and B Street on Wednesday to investigate a burglary. The man had just returned home and found a number of his belongings missing totaling $1,100.

The man contacted his upstairs neighbor to see if she any information when he saw his stolen bed in her living room. After looking around he also saw his TV, cookware, dishes and microwave in her apartment.

Police contacted 57 year old Melissa Combs and her roommate, 55 year old Bobby Wiley. They told police it was a misunderstanding and they thought their neighbor had moved out. Both said his door was unlocked and felt this justified their actions.

Both Combs and Wiley were arrested for burglary.

The victim was able to recover some of his property but some is still unaccounted for.
