Nebraska Lawmakers Respond To Signing Of USMCA

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue issued the following statement after President Donald J. Trump signed the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

USMCA will advance United States agricultural interests in two of the most important markets for American farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses. This high-standard agreement builds upon our existing markets to expand United States food and agricultural exports and support food processing and rural jobs.

Canada and Mexico are our first and second largest export markets for United States food and agricultural products, totaling more than $39.7 billion food and agricultural exports in 2018. These exports support more than 325,000 American jobs.

Members of the Nebraska Delegation are responding to the bill signing.

Nebraska U.S. Senator Deb Fischer joined President Trump at the White House for the signing. Senator Fischer stated, “It was a privilege to represent Nebraska at the White House today as President Trump signed this historic trade agreement. Our state’s farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers have shared with me the importance getting USMCA done. I thank them for their support as we worked to deliver this modern, bipartisan deal that will benefit families across the Good Life.”

Nebraska U.S. Senator Ben Sasse says, “The USMCA is now law - and that’s great news for Nebraska. Our farmers and ranchers deserve the certainty that this trade deal provides, and our neighbors, Canada and Mexico, are going to have it good knowing that they can buy from the very best America has to offer: Nebraska ag producers. We worked hard to get this deal across the finish line and the President and his team deserve a bunch of credit for getting this done.”
