Bellevue Man Pleaded No Contest To Child Sexual Assault Charges

BELLEVUE, Nebraska - A Bellevue man pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a child.

Nicholas Avery was already on the sex offender registry and on probation for trying to lure young girls on line for sex back in 2017.

Last June, 35 year old Avery paid a Lyft driver $200 to drive to Topeka, Kansas and bring a 13 year old girl back to Bellevue. 6 News reports the girl had been at her grandparents' home and they reported her missing. She was found at Avery's home. Investigators say the girl had been sexually assaulted three times.

Avery will be sentenced in March. There is a 15 year mandatory minimum for child sexual assault. That is the minimum so Avery could be sentenced to even more time behind bars.
