Update: Mountain Lion Sighting Near Gretna

GRETNA, Nebraska - Update - The investigation into the mountain lion sighting at Westplains Road and McKenna Avenue in Gretna continues.

6 News is now reporting that Nebraska Game and Parks said Friday that the photo of the mountain lion may have been taken from a YouTube video. Officials with the department are taking another look at that photo.

After the report, the Sarpy County Sheriff's Department had extra patrols in that area. Investigators are not looking at filing hoax charges at this time.

It appears that a mountain lion is roaming around near Gretna. The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office believes this to be a valid sighting.

Deputies are working with Nebraska Game and Parks and will have extra patrols in the area. Both agencies are trying to locate it. The big cat was spotted by a resident near the area of Mckenna and West Westplain Road in Gretna in the early morning hours of January 9th.
