Three Suspected Of Tossing Contraband Over Fence At State Pen

LINCOLN, Nebraska - Three people are facing charges after the Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force investigated contraband deliveries into the Nebraska State Penitentiary.

On Tuesday, January 7th at 8 a.m., investigators arrested an 18 year old unidentified man after he was seen on foot near 14th Street throwing a package over the wall of the State Penitentiary. A Nebraska Department of Corrections personnel quickly grabbed the package.

Two additional suspects, 22 year old Lonique Nelson and 21 year old Da'Rell Barfield were found in a vehicle across the street from the Penitentiary and were arrested.

The package contained tobacco, suspected K2, and two cell phones. All three people were arrested for delivering contraband into a correctional facility and delivery of a controlled substance. They were lodged in the Lancaster County Jail.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force includes the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, University Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol.
