OMAHA, Nebraska - Omaha is mourning the passing of Rudy Smith. Smith was a photographer for the Omaha World Herald for more than 40 years. 6 News reports Smith captured the civil unrest of the city and won dozens of awards for his work.
Smith was also an active member of his church, on the board of directors at the Great Plains Black History Museum and was involved in a number of organizations that fought for equality.
Eric Ewing with the Great Plains Black History Museum told 6 News, “Modest individual, you would have never known half of his accomplishments because he was not one to brag about those things.”
Smith died Thursday at age 74.
