Walter "Ted" Carter Selected As N-U's Next President

LINCOLN, Nebraska - The University of Nebraska has a new president. The Board of Regents today confirmed Walter "Ted" Carter as the next president of the University of Nebraska System.

6 News reports that Carter will start the transition as president-elect in mid-December and take over leadership on January 1st. The University states Carter became a priority candidate last April. he went through a lengthy review period prior to the announcement.

Carter most recently was the superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. He held that position from 2014 through 2019. He currently lives in Suffolk, Va.

The president is the chief executive officer of the four campus system.
