Omaha On Pace For Fewest Murders In More Than 12 Years.

The City of Omaha is one pace to have the fewest homicides in more than 12 years. But that means little to the family of 19 year old KenVaughn Glass, who was shot and killed over the weekend.

Friends and family placed pictures, candles and balloons at the corner of 24th & Vane, where police say shots were fired.

Pastor Bruce Williams has been holding these candle light vigils for almost 11 years. He tells 6 News it is making a difference.

"We are hoping those spikes come down. Last year I think we had 22. We hope at the end of the year that will be lower."

Police are still looking for whoever pulled the trigger. Information that is crucial for the family and out justice system.

"A lot of time when we come to these events we just sense that someone knows more than they are letting on," Williams says.

Through the month of November Omaha had 15 homicides. December started with another murder in Millard. The most homicides the city has recorded is 40 back in 2008.

Any information that could help police find the shooter or those involved in a homicide could be up for a $25,000 Crime-stoppers reward.
