Crosswalk Yield Markers Added At Papillion Intersection

The city of Papillion is taking steps to make a downtown street safer after a ten year old girl was struck and killed by a car this past summer while crossing the street.

City crews have installed six crosswalk yield markers at Washington and Second Street to better help drivers see pedestrians.

The city says they will look at additional features to slow traffic and improve safety. On August 20 Abby Whitford and her brother were crossing the street at that intersection when a driver failed to yield and struck the girl.

The 19 year old driver was charged with misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide.
