Snow likely in Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin this week

National Weather Service

Snow prediction maps show a chance of rain turning to snow, and perhaps several inches of snow across parts of our region from Tuesday into Wednesday, then another chance of snow Friday. The National Weather Service Snow Prediction map for the United States (above) shows the probability of two or more inches of snow accumulation by Wednesday noon.

Much of Nebraska, parts of Iowa, into Minnesota, Wisconsin and possibly Northern Illinois could get snow. It appears that Eastern Iowa, including Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Davenport are less likely to get much snow, though the exact direction of the snow system is still not certain.

The National Weather Service in Omaha predicts maybe an inch of snow in the city, but several inches to the west, north and northwest of Omaha. See snow map below.

In Des Moines, the National Weather Service says it's less clear on Sunday, two days ahead of the storm, where the heaviest snow will fall, and just when and where rain will change to snow, but Northern and Western Iowa look most likely for accumulation as of today. See Iowa snow map below.

In the areas of the heavier snow, driving may be difficult due to slippery road conditions and blowing snow. Visibility may be low at times in those areas.
