Lincoln Driver Stopped For DUI Tries To Take A Swig In Front Of Officers

LINCOLN, Nebraska - A Lincoln man is facing his 4th DUI after a traffic sto Tuesday night on west O Street.

Police say that 38 year old Richard Kercheval was seen swerving in and out of lanes and he made an improper turn.

Lincoln Police stopped his GMC Envoy and but Kercheval refused to turn off the engine. 6 News reports that is when he reached into his pocket for a bottle of Fireball whiskey and tried to take a drink before officers stopped him. That is when a fight broke out. With the help of a Nebraska State Patrol Trooper, Kercheval was taken into custody but he refused to cooperate following the arrest.

He was booked for DUI, 4th offense and driving under revocation. He was also cited for resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer and careless driving.
