Lockdown at Saratoga School Following A Police Chase

OMAHA, Nebraska - Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested a 15 year old girl following a pursuit in Omaha Wednesday afternoon.

The pursuit started at 2:45 p.m. when a trooper attempted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Equinox on Highway 75 for speeding near Ames Ave. The Equinox had previously been reported stolen. The driver took off.

After a short pursuit, the vehicle entered the parking lot of the Saratoga Integrated Learning Program at 25th and Meredith Ave. where it stopped and both occupants ran. One of the girls ran into the school. School was not in session as students had been dismissed earlier in the afternoon, but a lockdown was initiated for personnel still inside the school.

One of the girls then ran out of the school and was taken into custody. Additional troopers and officers with the Omaha Police Department searched the school for the other person who had run from the vehicle, but were unable to locate the subject, who is also believed to be a female juvenile.

The girl identified as the driver was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center
