Kiewit Plaza Purchased By Blackstone Plaza, LLC

OMAHA, Nebraska - The Kiewit Plaza at 35th and Farnam has a new owner. The building has been purchased by the Blackstone Plaza LLC.

“There’s no other building in Omaha that is even remotely like it,” said John Lund, CEO of the Lund Company, who leads Blackstone Plaza, LLC. “It’s an incredibly unique combination of state-of-the-art construction, amenities and location. We also have a pretty special long-term tenant.” Warren Buffett, a Kiewit Plaza tenant for the past 57 years, shared news at this year’s shareholder meeting that Berkshire Hathaway had

recently signed a 20-year lease at Kiewit Plaza.

The 15 story, 247,124 square-foot building is home to a cafeteria, Starbucks, fitness center, barbershop, full service gas station and an attached 247 space parking structure.

“Kiewit is pleased to have reached a final agreement with The Lund Company on the sale of the Kiewit Plaza Office Building. Our company constructed this location in 1962 as our business headquarters, and have enjoyed an outstanding run as part of the Midtown and Blackstone areas of Omaha since that time,” said Bob Kula, vice president of Corporate Communication.

Kiewit will open their new headquarters in the Builder's District in North Downtown Omaha in 2021.

The new owners plan to fully renovate 12 floors for new tenants beginning in spring of 2021, which will restore Kiewit Plaza to its original use as a multi-tenant building.

The sale was official on October 15, 2019.
