Council Bluffs Bank Robbery Suspect Behind Bars

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - An arrest is made in the robbery of the U.S. Bank on the South Expressway in Council Bluffs just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say employees were able to give a description of the suspect and his vehicle.

Officers then received a call that the suspect and the vehicle were now at 51st and Gifford Road in Council Bluffs and that someone was trying to break into a garage in an attempt to steal a vehicle parked inside.

When officers arrived at Gifford Road, they saw a vehicle leaving the scene. That is when officers used stop sticks. The driver then lost control and ended up in a ditch.

40 year old Brandon Bird was then taken into custody and booked on 2nd degree robbery, 1st degree burglary, 1st degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
