Inmate Escape From Community Corrections Center - Omaha

OMAHA, Nebraska - The Nebraska Department of Corrections is looking for an inmate who ran from Community Corrections Center in Omaha around 6:30 Tuesday morning. Staff chased after Charles Castillo-Hernandez until he jumped a fence near the perimeter of the facility. Omaha Police responded and searched the area but could not locate him. Castillo-Hernandez also removed the monitoring device he was wearing.

Castillo-Hernandez is serving a five to nine year sentence out of Sarpy County for use of a firearm to commit a felony. His sentence started on October 17, 2016 and he is eligible for parole on July 19, 2020.

Community Corrections Center Omaha is one of two facilities operated by the Department of Corrections where inmates are allowed to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.

Anyone with information about Castillo-Hernandez is asked to contact local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.
