Robert Downey Jr stars as Doctor Dolittle in the his first Post-Marvel role. This is a great story, a great series of books. I actually didn't enjoy the Eddie Murphy version from 1998. (Did you know that movie spawned four sequels?)
That said, this trailer didn't sell me on this movie. It just didn't grab me. I expected more whimsy, I guess. I'd also like to point out that good movies don't come out in January. It's typically a dumping ground for studios to release their clunkers and spend the remainder of the year recouping their losses. NOW, this could be Universal Studios capitalizing on a void in the marketplace. Let's put out a high profile movie in January and it'll be the only game in town.
We'll see what happens as we get closer to the release date. A trailer with more animal voices might do wonders for this movie that I want to like.
Dolittle hits theaters January 17th.
