LINCOLN, Nebraska - A Lincoln KLKN Channel 8 reporter was officially charged in Lancaster County Court Friday with sexual assault.
24 year old Zach Worthington is on leave. He was arrested Thursday while attending a media briefing.
According to an affidavit, the victim said she was sleeping in Worthington's home last October. She had told him she did not want to have sex with him. The victim states she woke up as he was sexually assaulting her. At that point she got dressed and left.
6 News reports Worthington made several references about the assault through text messages and controlled phone calls with the victim.
if convicted, Worthington faces anywhere from one to 50 years in prison and would be required to register as a sex offender.
