Free Mobile Food Pantry in La Vista on October 8

LA VISTA, Nebraska - Hunger is as real in farming communities and suburban neighborhoods as it is in urban food deserts. Across the Heartland, thousands of children, families and seniors struggle with regularly obtaining the food they need to be healthy. Food Bank for the Heartland and WellCare of Nebraska are committed to helping those who are food insecure.

Food Bank for the Heartland is partnering with WellCare to host a free mobile food pantry in La Vista on Tuesday, October 8 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. or until all of the food has been distributed. The mobile pantry will be part of a Farmer’s Market at the La Vista Community Center, 8116 Park View Blvd., La Vista, NE 68128.

WellCare is funding the mobile pantry program, and its employees will be joining volunteers from Sarpy County/ESU #3 Head Start to help distribute approximately 6,500 pounds of perishable and shelf-stable food for free to individuals and families in need.

Those in need of food assistance living in Sarpy County and surrounding communities are welcome. Families and individuals are encouraged to bring boxes or bags to assist in carrying the food they receive. No identification is required to receive food.
