Rain Won't Keep Junkstock Visitors Away

WATERLOO, Nebraska - Sycamore Farms is getting ready to host their 20th edition of Junkstock this weekend.

Flooding took a huge toll on the farm in March and it took several months of hard work to recover. Rain again is in the forecast but spokesperson Danelle Schlegelmilch says the event will go on rain or shine.

Schlegelmilch says, "It has been quite the year for Junkstock. We are about done with rain, floods and water but we will be ready for everyone this weekend. We arranged to have our free shuttle buses again so even if the fields get a little soft we will shuttle people for free from Metro Community College's Elkhorn Campus so that is always a great option for people coming out."

For the farm itself, Schlegelmilch says they have had trucks delivering gravel for the paths. They also are putting down straw and pea gravel to keep people out of the mud. She says, "Wear your farm boots and just get ready to have some fun no matter what the weather."

New this year is a giant pumpkin house. It is 15 feet tall and 15 feet wide and made out of real pumpkins. There are 8 bands, more than 180 vendors, food trucks, kid’s activities, a petting zoo and more.

Harvest edition starts Friday and runs through Sunday. Sycamore Farms is located at 1150 River Road Drive in Waterloo.

Blondo Street just north of the farm is closed for construction. Guests can use West Dodge or Maple Streets to reach the farm.
