Omaha, Nebraska - Smoking material not properly put out caused this afternoon’s house fire at 24th and Crown Point.
Fire crews saw smoke coming from the second floor when they arrived around 1:45 Thursday afternoon. The only occupant was able to safely get out and was not hurt.
It took firefighters a short time to get the fire under control. It was contained to a second floor bedroom. There is an estimated $20,000 in damages to the house.
