Omaha, Nebraska: There is sad news from the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. Marina, a 21 year old white rhino has died.
A release from the zoo states that Marina had been undergoing treatment for "symptoms similar to colic". She was not responding to treatments. Two surgeons were doing a procedure and found that Marina had an inoperable colonic obstruction". The decision was then made to euthanize the 4,000 pound rhino on Monday.
Marina had called the Henry Doorly Zoo home since 1999. The zoo currently has one male and one female rhino in the African Grasslands habitat.
